Newsletter 2025 Term 3 Week 3
PRINCIPAL NEWS - Mr Peter Hughes
At the Community Council meeting held on Wednesday we continued a discussion we have been having regarding some items of our school uniform.
In the near future parents will receive a survey on Compass to put forward their thoughts on two changes that have been discussed.
The first of these involves the wearing of school ties. The general consensus of the Community Council is the way students wear ties is not presentable. Many have elastic that makes them hang down, many are chewed and are often not worn at all. They also pointed out that while previously many occupations wore ties, this trend is diminishing.
The proposal is for the school to maintain a supply of ties for school photos and for special events such as the ANZAC Day March where the school captains would still wear our tie with the school blazer.
The second proposal is to change our sports shirt from a predominantly yellow shirt, which is difficult to keep clean to a new top with less yellow and more blue.
Any changes would have an implementation phase of a number of years so that families can run down existing clothes and our suppliers would need to be consulted of any changes to allow them to reduce their stock levels.
We know there are concerns with the expense of the woollen jumper and we have found a cheaper alternative and will talk with Chapman's to see if they can source the alternative.
Following the feedback from parents the Community Council will make a decision on what they consider is the best way to proceed and parents will be kept informed of any decisions made.

CLASS AWARDS- TERM 3 WEEK 3
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN KMW CLASSROOM
So far, in Term 3, KMW have been looking at narrative stories, ‘Giraffe’s Can’t Dance,’ by Giles Andrea and ‘Farmer John’s Tractor,’ by Sally Sutton. They have been learning about a story map, that contains characters, setting, a problem, feelings and a solution.
KMW also made some beautiful giraffes in art. Do you know a group of giraffes is called a tower?
In Religion, the Kinders have been discussing the terms ‘special’ and ‘sacred.’ They have listened to the story, ‘Have you filled a bucket today?,’ by Carol McCloud. KMW love listening to Bible stories too, (they have read the Children’s Bible once and are starting it again for the second time).
KMW write everyday. They have been focusing upon commencing each sentence with a capital letter, ending the sentence with a full stop or question mark or exclamation mark. Writing on the lines and spaces between words is also important.
In Health, the Kinders have been discussing keeping safe and their support network (which are people they know and trust).
In PE and Sport, KMW have commenced dancing, they know the ‘Hokey Pokey.’ They have been practicing balancing, hopping, throwing, catching and side galloping.
In Maths, Kinders have been making 11 and 12 using ten frames & counters and tens and ones. They have been making AB patterns, writing o’clock in analogue and digital time and writing numbers 0 -20.
Last Term, in Science, all the Kinders made a bag out of paper. It was a lot fun and there were many creative designs.
KMW entered the 2025 NAIDOC Week art competition. They also had fun coming to school wearing their beanies!
2025 ANTI-BULLYING WEEK - WEEK 4
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week. We will be marking this important message, “Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up” on Friday 15th August through class activities and asking the students to wear a splash of purple, which represents peace, strength and empowerment to stand against bullying.
The canteen will also be supporting the “Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up” which we will communicate through the week next week.
