PRINCIPAL'S NEWS - MR PETER HUGHES
On Wednesday of next week parents will be sent, via Compass, two notifications which allow parents to see how their child has settled into school life in Term One.
The first of these is the Interim Report which allows parents to see how their child has applied themselves across all curriculum areas as well as how they have lived out the school values of service, respect and responsibility.
There will also be access to a graded work sample completed by their child via Compass. Parents will be able to see a task that teachers have decided is a ‘C’, keeping in mind a ‘C’ is what is considered to be ‘meeting expectations’. They will then be able to compare their child's work sample with this and see why their child’s task was given the grade it was. There will also be a description of what the students were trying to achieve or the outcome the teachers were after. Please keep in mind that this is one work sample in mathematics and may not represent the final mathematics grade awarded to a student. Mathematics is a broad subject with the number strand itself covering a wide range of concepts. A final grading is given based on multiple samples of work across a semester.
We hope these both prove to be valuable information for parents. These will be supported by parent teachers interviews taking place early next term as well as more work samples being sent home via Compass later in the year.
To access your child’s work sample via your mobile device: open Compass and click on your child’s profile picture. Click on the TASK tab which can be found next to the Dashboard tab. You can then access the Assessment Task.
To access your child’s work sample via a PC: open Compass and click on Profile (found underneath the photo of your child) you then click on Learning Tasks which is the third tab across at the top of the Profile page. You can then access the Assessment Task.
Should you have any concerns or want to talk with your child’s teacher please contact them via email at their address given on the Interim Reports.
Reading Challenge Reward
On Monday Mr Hughes will be collecting all reading logs to ascertain which students have read for 95% of the challenge period. Due to the busy schedule of next week, the BBQ lunch for the students who achieve this milestone will be held in week one of next term.
SPORTS NEWS - MRS LEONNE CHALLEN
Rugby Union 10s Tackle Gala Day
What luck we had with the weather for yesterday’s Gala Day at Cranfield Oval! It was perfect playing conditions for some Rugby. Our two teams had a fantastic time and played with great enthusiasm and school spirit. Thank you to Mrs Sullivan for attending with the students and Mrs Dal Molin for transporting our kids via the school bus. Thank you also to our managers on the day - Mr Buck and Mrs Maloney - we appreciate your help so much! Both our teams made it to the finals and were narrowly defeated by Murrumburrah Public School. What a great effort!
Could all participants please return their short & socks next week please and have their name marked off with Mrs Challen.
