PRINCIPAL REPORT - MR PETER HUGHES
What a Surprise!!!
Today we were fortunate to have ‘Tone and I’ visit the school to perform for our excited and appreciative students and staff. We even played a number of her popular songs at last night's disco.
On behalf of the school I thank Toni and her management team for choosing St Mary’s as one of the schools in which she would perform. It will certainly be one of the highlights of the school year.
I have received the results of the ‘Tell Them From Me Survey’ that parents were asked to complete earlier this term. While we only had a small sample of respondents the results were very positive. Below is a link to the report should you wish to view it.
On Tuesday we held the first of our Multi-age Parent Evenings to inform parents of what a multi-age class is, how they work and the experiences of staff who have taught multi-age classes previously. I thank the parents that attended and especially Mrs Eastwood, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Murray who spoke on the night.
Last night we held two well attended discos that were organised by the Community Council and ably assisted by a number of staff. I thank all involved for the work they put into making the night successful and enjoyable for the students.

South West Slopes Tri Tag Gala Day
We are seeking EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from students in Years 3 to 6 who would like to participate in this Rugby Union gala day on Thursday 31st October. We are only collecting these EOI at this stage so we can then make a decision as to how to organise the day. We are conscious of the fact that this gala day takes place a week after Boorowa Touch & Netball Carnival. The gala day is also being played in Cootamundra and we have no capacity to transport students. At this stage students attending would need to be transported to and from the venue by parents.
If your child is interested in playing and you are able to provide transport please complete the Google Form here
Once we have received the EOI we can then organise the logistics of attending. Those that have completed the Google form will then be invited to the event via Compass to complete the permission form. Please note we will only be inviting those students who have completed the Expression of Interest Google form. This form will need to be completed by Wednesday 25th September (Wk 10)
If you have any questions please contact me at school or email leonne.challen@cg.catholic.edu.au
WHOLE SCHOOL MASS
On Tuesday Hennessy students from years 7-10 joined with our students to celebrate Mass for the Nativity of Mary. It was lovely to be able to enjoy this special occasion together.
BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS
Last Friday morning our playground was a kaleidoscope of colour as students arrived dressed as their favourite storybook characters. From fairytale favourites to action heroes, there was a role for everyone with lots of laughter and fun. The day began with a dramatic performance from Meerkat Productions based on the CBCA award winning picture book "Timeless". The message in this thought provoking text was to make the most of the time we have by spending quality time with our family and friends. Students were challenged to think of an activity that made them happy but cost no money.
The theme for Book Week this year was "Reading is Magic" and this theme came to life later in the day when students, from Kinder to Year 6, joined with parents, grandparents and carers in our school hall for our annual Book Character Parade. Our day concluded with students joining their buddy class to reflect on and illustrate their own special memories and timeless treasures.
A special thank you must go to our parents and carers who assisted in creating and providing the amazing range of book character costumes.
"A book is a magical thing that lets you travel to far-away places without ever leaving your chair"
